Jarabacoa for Free

The Dominican Republic is not only sun, sea, and sand. El Cibao region is the cool country’s interior and a world apart, only 90-km away from Santo Domingo. Dominated by the towering Cordillera Central, the mountain range that forms the island’s spine, the central region is a nature lover’s paradise of protected national parks, streams, waterfalls, spectacular views and valleys. The gentle climate encourages crops such as strawberries, and at high-altitudes frosts are not uncommon. The green meadows and pine forests are far from the usual image of the Caribbean, and Pico Duarte ( 3098 m), the highest mountain in the Caribbean, dominates the scene. One of the most popular villages in this region is Jarabacoa. Ideal for the adventurers, for climbing, rafting, visiting beautiful waterfalls and natural parks. One of must visit place that we recommend is the Salto La Jimenoa. A magical place with brooks, waterfalls connected by rope bridges. Beautiful landscapes along the road. The perfect alternative weekend in the Dominican Republic.
